things I don't know yet

squeezing my mindgrapes for the heck of it.

Flo-town Low-down

I am sitting in an apartment in Florence, South Caronlina. It’s almost hard to call my own, but hey I’m paying rent so it’s as close to mine as it can be. The things that I don’t know have in fact doubled recently. With that being said- here we go.

This is not an apology for not writing. It was actually a good thing that I didn’t try to write everything that I was feeling or thinking. The last few weeks have been a blur. And to touch on it as lightly is possible it is now safe to say that I have clarity in a number of issues.  I did not want to publish a lot of my semi-lucid thoughts as I was going through this whole straightening of issues, but now I feel like I’ve kinda popped out of a tunnel and its not raining on this side of the mountain (just go with it, ok).

So I moved to Florence and just assumed that being obedient to a call would automatically lead to the Lord’s immediate provision. I assumed this provision would be simply walking into a job here and things would just be peachy. Well, it wasn’t a walk in the park getting a job. I can say that after weeks and really months of jobs just not working out I am exactly where I’m supposed to be. I realized that had any of the other opportunities opened up for me I would not be here and I would not be enjoying my surroundings nearly this much.

This is really only skimming the surface of things that I didn’t know 2 months ago, but I do now. I feel like the tips of my fingers would pop if I went into any in depth, but here is a bulleted and abbreviated list of things I am learning/have learned.***

  • Things always come in three’s (starbucks, books-a-million, rand-o job offer)
  • 3rd floor apartments make a man out of you pretty fast when you lug a few hundred pounds of musical gear every week.
  • It’s possible to survive on $40 a week and still have fun.
  • God’s timing is perfect, and a lot of the time even pretty comical
  • Biblical Community must be pursued, but is worth the pursuit
  • Reverend makes amazing bass guitars
  • The book of Romans is best enjoyed over Explosions in the Sky on vinyl.
  • Brandon Grove can throw double kick into Taylor Swift covers and make it sexy
  • God really does care for his children. Not just watches out for them, but wants the best for them.
  • It’s possible to drink 2 32oz bottles of miller high life without using the bathroom.
  • I had a lot of people pour a lot into me. Now it’s time for me to be a real leader.
  • Balconies were made for sitting and pipe smoking.

So there. Maybe more on these later.

***Disclaimer*** I reserve the right to learn these things again later. Because, well…I’m stubborn.
